The Diada de Sant Jordi

Every year, in Barcelona and around Catalonia, we celebrate one of the most special days of the year, the Diada de Sant Jordi. The streets are full of stalls selling roses and books and cultural activities in the open air, at bookshops, shops and shopping centres that will be open all day. Roses, books and people in love are never in short supply on 23rd April!

At Barcelona Shopping City we have a few ideas lined up so you can enjoy this special day.

If you drop by Wonder Photo Shop (1, Gran de Gràcia) you’ll be able to take part in a snapshot workshop where you’ll learn how to make bookmarks, and be able to buy an album made specially for the day the “Easy Album Sant Jordi” or have your photo taken in its photobooth and win prizes.

Anybody interested in the world of Ancient Egypt and Egyptology should visit the bookstall set up by the Museu Egipci de Barcelona on Rambla de Catalunya (at the junction with Carrer Aragó) where renowned writers will be signing copies of their books.

The Casa de les Punxes joins in the celebrations with a series of special activities, with free informative sessions in the street for adults and children. You’ll be able to take a guided tour on the theme of Sant Jordi or enjoy a romantic supper on the terrace. You’ll also find a series of products specially chosen for the occasion.

The Turisme de Barcelona information offices will be open to help you with anything you may need. In Plaça Catalunya and Plaça Sant Jaume beautiful images of roses will be projected onto screens, and you’ll be able to buy your memento of Sant Jordi with all the products you’ll find at the Bcn Original Shops. All the Jordis, Georgines and people with similar names who go to the Columbus Monument will be entitled to free admission.

Come to Barcelona to enjoy the Diada de Sant Jordi!
