In Barcelona, and throughout Catalonia, people join in the Castanyada, a party to celebrate autumn which features some of our traditional products.  Sweet chestnuts (castanyes) take centre stage, along with sweet potatoes, glacé fruit and, the pièce de resistance, panellets, tiny sweet treats made of sugar, eggs and almonds.

This custom paves the way for Halloween when pumpkins, skeletons and witches make their presence felt.

Come and explore the city on foot and enjoy traditions new and old on this special day. Shops that offer you traditional produce, shop windows decorated for the occasion, fancy dress costumes, etc… and a whole host of options to celebrate this festival.

Hard Rock Cafe Barcelona, one of the members of Barcelona Shopping Line, will be joining in the festivities in a supportive, special way. This coming Tuesday, 31st October, from 10am to 8pm, a blood donation bus from the Catalan Blood and Tissue Bank will be parked on Carrer Rivadeneyra for anyone wishing to give blood and take part in this initiative. The terrace of the Hard Rock Cafè will be serving breakfast to everyone who has taken part in this campaign.
