Joan Rovira Joies is awarded the 2022 Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle label

Joan Rovira Joies have been awarded this distinction for their hand-made bamboo jewellery and other sustainable practices.

Joan Rovira Joies have always defended sustainable practices. Nature is their main source of inspiration and, by way of a tribute, they use organic, environmentally friendly materials to create their artisan pieces. Bamboo is one of the firm’s favourite materials, and Joan Rovira gathers it in small quantities from different woodland areas in the province of Barcelona to transform it into works of art, in the form of artisan jewellery or sculptures. This process, together with other sustainable practices, has earned them the 2022 Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle label. This distinction is awarded to businesses that respect the environment and Barcelona’s cultural, economic and social components.

After months of interviews and audits, this family-run business is celebrating the award of the certification that accredits its commitment to sustainability and motivates it to continue to improve every day.

On Tuesday 28th June, Joan Rovira Joies collected the Barcelona Biosphere Destination’s Commitment to Sustainable Tourism certificate: an initiative to gauge businesses’ actual levels of sustainability. This digital platform is a project of the Responsible Tourism Institute, which adapts the 17 Sustainable Development Goals on the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda to the field of tourism.

To mark the occasion, Joan Rovira Joies would like to take the opportunity to thank all the people who have contributed to making environmentally friendly commerce more alive than ever.
