Tying in with the 40th anniversary of the punk explosion, the MACBA brings together more than 100 works by 60 artists from Spain and around the world in an exhibition that examines the main elements that define the Punk movement while looking at the way it influenced contemporary art.

Punk is an attitude that exploded onto the scene in London and New York as a total rejection of the system. It saw its heyday from 1976 and 1978 and became an adjective that defines a way of understanding the world and confronting the social and political situation and conventions, in the same way contemporary art does with its fiercely critical and enquiring spirit.

The PUNK merchandise range, which is on sale at the MACBA store Laie, encapsulates this attitude.
